"If I quieted the voices in my head I would face the day with nothing to write."

“The time to begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to clearly and logically perceive what it is that you really want to say.” Mark Twain.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
― Roald Dahl

Yo, it's gardening season

Because its my favorite.
It's warm out, the sun shines longer and time to work in the yard.

I finished the large, seemingly never ending project of painting the living room a fresh new color. It sucked my time, absorbed my creativity and broke into my writing time. The project grew to include the one hundred year old wood, floor to ceiling book shelves. They were like an arid desert and needed to be stained, plus the color of Waterlily I chose needed a complement of dark brown. The theme based on a pillow.

And once I start the living room, the open floor plan means I must include the kitchen and laundry room.

Easter egg. The room looked like a theme party for Easter.

The old fir floor, a light yellow needed to be a richer color. More paint, more stain and more brush work but the look is fresh, invigorating and sexy. The tootsie roll chocolate couch enhanced by the daiquiri ice of the walls makes things pop and the light breeds creativity.

We started our steps, we have been hemming and hawing for months about how to do them. Wood, concrete, expensive and cheap. So many styles to choose from.

Studying pictures, styles and idea's found in books, magazines and on the internet. We were able to come into some free mortar and rocks well they are always easy to find too and we have been collecting them.

Saturday morning arrives and with a late start to work to look forward to, it seems as if I have hours to play in the dirt. We started in the early morning, with rain clouds threatening and wind blowing, using for the project; rocks and mortar. Also laying around are bricks, slate and wood.

As they took form, Nick handed over the finishing touches to me. Glass, wire and bits of stone and tile either were placed creatively or in the case of the wire. We did not want to pull it out in case it took out the bed we were building a wall to protect because of erosion. I just bent it quickly and incorporated it into the wall and now it is one of my favorite pieces of the wall.

Just starting the project brought out the ideas, flow and direction we have been wanting to take. Making a trip to under the house, I rummage for the old tile used in the kitchen and bathroom. In the yard, glass seems to grow at a rapid rate, picking up these bits and pieces threw them in as well. My steps are now Nick and I combined, our creative artistic soles infused in garden steps for our yard.

I love them.
